Mount Everest witnessed another successful summit on May 20, 2026, as 22 climbers from Satori Adventures reached the world’s highest peak under a coordinated international expedition. According to Rishi Ram Bhandari, Chairman of Satori Adventures, the successful summit team included eight international climbers and 14 Nepali climbing guides, who reached the 8,848.86-metre summit in the early hours of the morning.
The expedition marked Satori Adventures’ first successful Everest summit team of the 2026 spring climbing season, highlighting strong coordination between foreign climbers and experienced Nepali Sherpa guides.
Purnima Shrestha Completes Sixth Everest Summit
Among the climbers, record-holding Nepali mountaineer and photojournalist Purnima Shrestha successfully scaled Everest for the sixth time. Shrestha is widely recognized for making history in 2024 by becoming the first woman to summit Everest three times in a single climbing season, further strengthening her position as one of Nepal’s most accomplished female climbers. Her latest ascent adds another milestone to her remarkable mountaineering career, which continues to inspire women in high-altitude climbing.
International Climbers Reach the Summit
The international summit team included climbers from multiple countries, led by Maltese expedition leader Nicholas Ellul. Other successful summiters included Olena Karlova of Ukraine, Magdalena Kowari and Mariusz Mlynarczyk of Poland, Rafal Janusz Skrzypiec of Poland, Sandra Maria Wieliczko of Luxembourg, and Ngo Hai Son and Thi Thanh Binh of Vietnam. Expedition organizers said the team’s success reflects careful planning, acclimatization, and effective coordination between international climbers and Nepal’s experienced guiding professionals.
Strong Sherpa and Nepali Team Support
The Nepali climbing team included experienced guides and Sherpas such as Ongdak Sherpa, Pasang Nurbu Sherpa, Dawa Nurbu Sherpa, Pasang Gyaljen Sherpa, Pema Sherpa, Lankaram Tamang, Pasang Sherpa, Phurtenji Sherpa, Nima Sherpa, Lakpa Tasi Sherpa, Furte Sherpa, Thuktang Sherpa, and Lakpa Sherpa. Officials said the strong presence of experienced Nepali guides played a crucial role in ensuring a safe and successful summit for all climbers.
Safe Descent and Ongoing Expeditions
Chairman Rishi Ram Bhandari confirmed that all 22 climbers are safely descending to lower camps following their successful summit. He added that several other expedition teams are currently preparing for their own summit attempts as weather conditions remain favorable on Everest during the ongoing spring climbing season. The successful ascent adds to the growing number of summit achievements this season, further highlighting Nepal’s position as the global hub of high-altitude mountaineering.
