Bandipur Rural Municipality Declared a Protected Area to Enhance its Historical Significance

Tanahun’s Bandipur Rural Municipality, known for its rich historical significance, has been declared a protected area. This initiative aims to enhance Bandipur’s charm by highlighting its unique historical heritage.

During the 15th village assembly of Bandipur Rural Municipality, the annual policy and program were presented, and the Chairman, Surendra Bahadur Thapa, announced the execution of these plans.

A tourism information center will be established to maintain records of incoming tourists and provide integrated information about homestay hotels. Efforts will be made to preserve, promote, and develop homestay circuits, including Siddha Cave, Pataldari Cave, Huslangkot Palace, Mukundeshwari Trail, Chandrakot Fort, Thanima, Bhukbhuke tourist area, and other tourist sites, as stated by Chairman Thapa.

Local products will be identified, and market feasibility studies will be conducted for branding. Handicrafts produced through skill-based training run by the municipality will be sold through souvenir houses, as informed by Thapa.

The municipality plans to gradually expand open gyms at tourist destinations, enhance the appeal of natural rocks in tourist areas, and begin the construction of 25 pond parks within Bandipur this year. Additionally, feasibility studies for the construction of large-scale Jhaprifat and Devithumka reservoirs will be carried out, and tourism infrastructure development will be promoted to make every village in Bandipur a tourist spot, Thapa mentioned.

To elevate Bandipur’s tourism, skill-based training programs such as handicraft production, tourist guide hospitality, homestay management, and traditional crop cuisine will be conducted, making souvenir houses more effective.

The policy and program also outline the continuation of the ‘Visit Bandipur’ campaign in major cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara, Sauraha, and Lumbini to further promote Bandipur’s tourism.
