A two-day trekking campaign is set to begin in Udayapur with the goal of promoting local tourism. The trek will start from Baghkhor in Udayapurgadhi Rural Municipality–7 and end at Everest View Tower in Majhkharka, Limchungbung Rural Municipality–2.
Organized in collaboration with the Nepali Army’s Pashupati Battalion, the campaign aims to revive historic trails once used by locals to travel between the hills and the plains for trade. According to Limchungbung RM Chair Major Kumar Rai, the route used to connect places like Siraha’s Lahan through the hills before roads took over. Udayapurgadhi RM Vice Chair Jit Bahadur Khadka said the trek will offer a unique experience of rural lifestyles, including traditional meals and culture while helping preserve local heritage.
This historic route, once frequented for trade, especially from Halesi via Limchungbung and Baghkhor to the Terai, will be highlighted during the campaign. The trek, beginning Saturday morning, will see participation from the Nepali Army, local officials, political leaders, and civil society representatives.
