Tour de Khijidemba Pikey 2025 Festival to Promote Lower Khumbu Tourism

In an effort to boost tourism activity in the lower region of Khumbu, a grand travel festival titled ‘Tour de Khijidemba Pikey 2025’ has been announced. The festival is scheduled to take place from May 1 to May 4, and aims to highlight the unexplored beauty and tourism potential of the Khijidemba area through an adventurous and cultural journey.

The four-day event is being organized under the leadership of the Okhaldhunga Tourism Development Committee, which has incorporated various destinations across Nepal in this specially curated travel package. Participants will begin their journey from Kathmandu to Khijidemba via bus and then embark on an exciting trek towards the scenic Pikey Peak, one of the best vantage points to view Mount Everest.

The event has been designed as a multi-adventure tourism package, combining biking, trekking, and climbing experiences. According to the organizers, the total cost for participation is set at NPR 3,500 per person, which includes all travel arrangements, meals, and accommodation throughout the journey.

Ngawa Nima Sherpa, the chairperson of the Okhaldhunga Tourism Development Committee and former board member of the Nepal Tourism Board, stated that the main objective of the event is to promote tourism in Khijidemba Rural Municipality. He emphasized that this initiative aims to draw attention to lesser-known destinations that hold immense tourism potential, particularly in the lower Solukhumbu region.

The committee has previously organized five editions of a 42-kilometer marathon in the region as part of its ongoing efforts to boost tourism. With the launch of this new adventure festival, the organizers hope to further enhance local tourism, create economic opportunities, and bring national and international attention to the natural and cultural richness of Khijidemba and its surrounding areas.
