Bhaktapur Launches ‘Go Local’ Campaign To Promote Local Products And Boost Tourism

Bhaktapur has started a “Go Local” campaign to boost local goods and capitalize on tourism. The Bhaktapur Tourism Development Committee and the Bhaktapur Domestic and Small Industry Association are spearheading the project.

As tourist souvenirs, 15 items will be branded, such as clay pots, Ayla, Taichin rice flour, woodcraft, Bhadgaon hats, Nepali paper, handicrafts, wooden and paper crowns, rug weaving, felt weaving, and Taichin Chiura.

The initiative seeks to promote the abilities and methods of regional craftspeople while preserving traditional crafts and increasing local employment. “At the moment, we are producing documentaries about five different products: woodworking, Taichin Chiura, Jujudhau, Haku Patasi, and Bhadgaon hats.

Gradually, we will brand all 15 products,” said committee president Dipesh Raj Sharma. The “Go Local” initiative will support the preservation of traditional crafts, facilitate the choice of souvenirs by visitors, and generate employment locally.
