Lumbini Unites Nations: A Powerful Dialogue on Nepal-China Buddhist Culture

Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, is once again in the spotlight as it hosts an international conference aimed at reinforcing the ancient cultural ties between Nepal and China. The two-day conference, titled ‘Nepal-China Buddhist Culture and Art,’ was inaugurated today by Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chetan Narayan Acharya.

The conference, organized jointly by Lumbini Buddhist University, the Chinese Culture Promotion Society, the Lumbini Development Trust, and the Sariputra Foundation, serves as an opportunity to strengthen the long-standing cultural, religious, and intellectual relationships between the two nations. In his opening remarks, Chief Minister Acharya emphasized the importance of this event in furthering the cultural and intellectual collaboration between Nepal and China, marking a significant milestone in enhancing the bilateral ties.

“Lumbini is not just Nepal’s jewel; it is the source of world peace and Buddhist teachings,” said Acharya. “It was from this land, Lumbini, that Buddha delivered his timeless message of peace, brotherhood, non-violence, compassion, and equality to the world.”

The Chief Minister also highlighted the necessity of reviving the historic Nepal-China relationship in a modern context, particularly through cultural, economic, and intellectual cooperation. Acharya pointed out that the conference will explore the depths of Buddhist philosophy, art, and culture, while also contributing to a broader understanding of the shared cultural heritage between the two nations.

Additionally, the Chief Minister praised China’s economic development, expressing optimism that Nepal can significantly benefit from its cooperation with China. Acharya noted that Chinese investments and technical assistance would be instrumental in advancing Lumbini’s vision as a global hub for peace and Buddhist tourism. He further emphasized that such cooperation would contribute to the economic progress, trade expansion, and infrastructure development of Nepal, benefiting both nations.

“The Lumbini Province Government is fully committed to the preservation and promotion of Buddhist culture, art, and heritage,” stated Acharya, underlining the importance of these initiatives in strengthening Nepal’s cultural identity while fostering deeper international ties.

The event, according to Acharya, is not just a platform for intellectual discourse but also a celebration of the friendship, cooperation, and cultural unity between Nepal and China. The outcomes of the conference will play a pivotal role in shaping future diplomatic and cultural engagements, both in Nepal and globally.

In conclusion, Chief Minister Acharya’s address emphasized the vital role of Lumbini as a cultural bridge between Nepal and China, with the conference providing a unique opportunity for both nations to reaffirm their historical connections and work together toward shared cultural and economic prosperity.
