Mahendra Bahadur Singh, Chief of the Simikot Branch of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), reported that the persistent rains in the Himali regions of Karnali Province have resulted in the suspension of air services for the last five days. The continued bad weather has made it difficult to resume flights utilizing Tara Air, Sita Air, and Summit Air aircraft from Nepalgunj, which has affected the districts of Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, and Humla.
The suspension has mostly affected travelers coming back from Mount Kailash via Mansarovar; eight of them had to take helicopters to return from Simikot to Nepalgunj after their trip. This incident demonstrates how unpredictable bad weather may be when flying in remote Himalayan areas, which is inconveniencing both locals and tourists.
