Philippine Pride Soars as Climbers Conquer Everest in Bold 14 Peaks Mission

In a remarkable achievement for Philippine mountaineering, climbers Elaine Jhon Panganiban (commonly known as Jeno) and Miguel Angelo Mapalad successfully reached the summit of Mt. Everest (8,848.86 meters) on the morning of May 18, 2025. The duo achieved this milestone as part of the prestigious Seven Summit Treks expedition team, becoming the latest members of the Philippine 14 Peaks Expedition to conquer the world’s tallest mountain.

Guided by experienced Nepalese Sherpas Pasang Sherpa and Danuru Sherpa, the climbers navigated the challenging terrain and extreme altitude to stand atop Sagarmatha, also known as Mt. Everest. Their successful ascent highlights the growing presence and determination of Filipino climbers in the global mountaineering community.

This summit marks a significant step for the 14 Peaks Expedition, a national effort aiming to complete ascents of the world’s highest mountains.
