The protection of the beautiful Kailash Parbat and Harit Hill in Sikretar, Arun Rural Municipality Ward No. 7, has officially commenced. The goal is to make the neighbourhood a popular place for tourists to visit.
Kumar Thapa, the chairperson of the Ward, said that work is being done to make Kailash Parbat and Harit Hill become significant tourist attractions. He said that in addition to protecting Kailash Parbat, important infrastructure like walking paths is being built to make it easier to get there. Chairperson Thapa also said that a new trekking path is being built to connect Kailash Parbat with Harit Hill, which is not far away. The provincial government has set out NPR 500,000 for the building of this trail.

Furthermore, a more comprehensive strategy has been started to create an integrated tourism region that includes Singhadevi Temple, Gaurishankar Temple, Harit Hill, and Kailash Parbat. He stated that a children’s park is being built close to the ward office with an NPR 1 million budget in order to draw more tourists.

The ward’s actions have given the area fresh optimism for its tourism potential, according to resident Tek Bahadur Basnet, who expressed excitement over the ongoing development efforts. He underlined the area’s cultural and spiritual importance, citing the sacred Gaurishankar and Singhadevi Temples in addition to Kailash Parbat.

“The local government’s work in developing this area as a tourist destination is commendable,” said Basnet. “These historical sites had remained neglected due to a lack of attention, but with the ongoing development, we expect a rise in both domestic and international tourist arrivals.”
Chairperson Thapa added that Kailash Parbat and Gaurishankar Temple hosts a large annual fair that draws worshippers from nearby regions in addition to the local community. In order to support the local economy and protect significant historical sites, the conservation and development project seeks to promote spiritual tourism, natural beauty, and cultural legacy in Arun Rural Municipality.
