Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Hit Bahadur Tamang, emphasized the significance of linking Nepal’s ancient and historical currency with the nation’s archaeological heritage and nationalism. This statement was made during the inauguration of an exhibition showcasing coins from 193 countries, curated by Dipendra Ratna Shakya, who has set a world record by collecting ancient and historical coins of Nepal.
Minister Tamang remarked that the collection of coins, both from Nepal and abroad, holds importance from multiple perspectives. He highlighted the multifaceted value of the currency, noting that it not only preserves historical and cultural heritage but also plays a vital role in promoting tourism within the country.
The event also featured an exhibition by child collector Lakshyajit Malla, organized by the Nepal Currency Collectors Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism. Minister Tamang commended the young collectors for their successful efforts in gathering and displaying coins from various significant periods, including the Buddha period, Lichchhawi period, monarchy, and the republic era.
