Nepal Rastra Bank Announces Updated Foreign Exchange Rates for Today

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central monetary authority of the country, has announced the official foreign exchange rates for today. According to the latest update, the buying rate of one US dollar is set at NPR 136.24, while the selling rate stands at NPR 136.84. These rates reflect the ongoing fluctuations in the global currency market and are indicative of Nepal’s current foreign exchange position in relation to major international currencies.

Nepal Rastra Bank’s Exchange Rate

In the European currency segment, the euro has been valued with a buying rate of NPR 154.57 and a selling rate of NPR 155.25. The British pound sterling continues to remain strong, with the buying rate fixed at NPR 184.56 and the selling rate at NPR 185.38. The Swiss franc is trading at NPR 164.70 for buying and NPR 165.43 for selling, showing a relatively stable trend in the European currency basket.

Among other major currencies, the Australian dollar is being exchanged at NPR 87.84 for buying and NPR 88.23 for selling, while the Canadian dollar is set at NPR 98.97 for buying and NPR 99.41 for selling. Similarly, the Singapore dollar’s rates stand at NPR 105.80 (buying) and NPR 106.27 (selling), reflecting moderate fluctuations.

From the Asian currency front, the Japanese yen is quoted at NPR 9.45 for buying and NPR 9.50 for selling for every 10 yen. The Chinese yuan stands at NPR 18.93 (buying) and NPR 19.02 (selling), whereas the Saudi Arabian riyal is being exchanged at NPR 36.32 (buying) and NPR 36.48 (selling). The Qatari riyal is slightly higher at NPR 37.38 for buying and NPR 37.55 for selling.

Other notable rates include the Thai baht at NPR 4.16 (buying) and NPR 4.18 (selling), the UAE dirham at NPR 37.09 (buying) and NPR 37.26 (selling), and the Malaysian ringgit at NPR 32.14 (buying) and NPR 32.28 (selling). South Korea’s currency, the won, is being traded at NPR 9.92 for buying and NPR 9.96 for selling per 100 units, while the Swedish krona stands at NPR 14.22 (buying) and NPR 14.29 (selling). The Danish krone is listed at NPR 20.73 for buying and NPR 20.82 for selling.

Further updates include the Hong Kong dollar, set at NPR 17.38 (buying) and NPR 17.46 (selling), and some of the highest-valued currencies in the market today such as the Kuwaiti dinar, which is being bought at NPR 444.23 and sold at NPR 446.19. The Bahraini dinar follows with a buying rate of NPR 361.39 and a selling rate of NPR 362.98, and the Omani riyal is priced at NPR 353.89 (buying) and NPR 355.45 (selling).

As for the neighboring Indian currency, the rate for 100 Indian rupees has been set at NPR 160.00 for buying and NPR 160.15 for selling. This rate is of particular importance due to Nepal’s close economic ties and daily cross-border trade with India.

Nepal Rastra Bank has emphasized that these exchange rates are subject to change based on market conditions and can be revised at any time as needed. The central bank has also clarified that the rates set by commercial banks may vary slightly, and the most updated and official exchange rates are regularly published on the NRB’s official website.

These exchange rate updates are significant not just for banks and financial institutions, but also for businesses engaged in international trade, tourism operators dealing with foreign clients, migrant workers sending remittances, and individuals planning foreign travel.
