Photo Exhibition on Mountain Tourism Receives Praise from Nepal Tourism Board CEO

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nepal Tourism Board, Deepak Raj Joshi, has commended the photo exhibition organized by the National News Agency (RSS), describing it as a powerful tool for promoting Nepal’s mountain tourism and enhancing the country’s international image.

Exhibition Highlights Mountain Pride and Identity

The exhibition, titled “Mountain Tourism: Our Pride, Our Identity,” was inaugurated in celebration of Nepal’s 18th Republic Day and aims to showcase the majestic Himalayan landscape and the cultural richness of mountain communities. Speaking after his visit to the exhibition, CEO Joshi emphasized its visual and informative impact, noting that such creative efforts are instrumental in strengthening Nepal’s tourism potential.

“The photo exhibition is highly informative, engaging, and visually captivating,” Joshi remarked. “It offers a glimpse into the beauty of our country and motivates people to travel. There is a strong need to take this exhibition to a larger audience, and the Nepal Tourism Board is fully prepared to support such initiatives.”

A Strategic Tool for Tourism Promotion

Joshi stressed that Nepal, blessed with unique natural features, has immense potential to become a top destination for mountain tourism. He observed that the collection of images not only highlights the scenic grandeur of the Himalayas but also encapsulates the way of life in the highland regions, blending visual storytelling with cultural education.

“There are many elements we can present to the world through tourism,” he stated. “These photographs don’t just show mountains, they capture our cultural depth, our history, and our people’s resilience. They serve as an inspiration to youth and remind us of the economic potential hidden within our natural beauty.”

He further recommended that the photo series be compiled into a publication to extend its reach. “Publishing these photos in book form and presenting them at national and international tourism platforms could significantly boost our tourism campaigns,” Joshi added.

RSS Chair Highlights National Importance

The Executive Chairperson of RSS, Dharmendra Jha, who welcomed visitors and provided details about the exhibition, expressed confidence that the initiative would elevate the visibility of Nepal’s Himalayan regions. “This exhibition celebrates not just geography, but identity and pride. It reflects the heart of Nepal,” Jha said.

He elaborated that the exhibition was curated with a strong emphasis on both artistic merit and informative content, aiming to leave a lasting impression on viewers, both domestic and international.

Exhibition Overview: A Journey Through the Himalayas

Opened to the public on May 24, the exhibition features 96 captivating photographs that capture the diverse Himalayan terrain stretching from eastern to western Nepal. Each photograph serves as a window into various aspects of mountain life, highlighting snow-capped peaks, remote settlements, indigenous culture, and popular trekking destinations.

The exhibition also portrays the everyday life of mountain communities, their harmony with nature, and the challenges they face due to geography and climate. Visitors to the exhibition can experience an immersive journey through Nepal’s topography, spanning world-famous peaks such as Everest, Annapurna, and Kanchenjunga, as well as lesser-known yet equally enchanting mountain locations.

Inspiring the Future of Tourism

Joshi pointed out that initiatives like these not only attract tourists but also foster a sense of national pride and engagement, especially among the younger generation. “When youth are introduced to the tourism potential within their own country, they begin to see it as a career path and a means of contributing to national development,” he said.

He emphasized the role of storytelling through images in global tourism branding and highlighted the need to continue investing in creative, high-impact promotional activities.

A Call for Broader Collaboration

In conclusion, Joshi reiterated that the Nepal Tourism Board stands ready to partner with RSS and other stakeholders to further amplify such efforts. He suggested that future exhibitions could be hosted in regional cities and international embassies to capture wider attention and bring Nepal’s mountains into global focus.

As Nepal gradually recovers from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on its tourism sector, such exhibitions are seen as timely and essential steps in repositioning the country as a must-visit destination for nature and adventure lovers worldwide.
