A three-day training program on “Developing Package for Tour” was successfully conducted from June 23 to 25, 2025, at Hotel Makalu, Birgunj. The event was jointly organized by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), NATTA Centre, and NATTA Madhesh Province. The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of tourism professionals in Madhesh Pradesh by equipping them with the necessary tools and knowledge to design effective, attractive, and market-ready travel packages.
Focused on Enhancing Local Expertise
The training brought together tourism entrepreneurs, travel agents, tour operators, and related stakeholders from the Madhesh Province. The core objective was to enhance their understanding of package development, from conceptualization to implementation, so they can create compelling travel itineraries tailored to both domestic and international markets.
The program highlighted the growing importance of promoting regional tourism by developing localized and culturally rich tour packages that align with modern travel demands.

Expert Trainers Lead the Sessions
The sessions were led by seasoned professionals Mr. Vinaya Shakya and Mr. Ram Kumar Puri, who shared in-depth knowledge on essential aspects of tour package design, including itinerary planning, pricing strategies, target audience analysis, and branding.
Participants were introduced to global best practices and practical frameworks, enabling them to convert ideas into tangible tourism products. The training included case studies, group work, and hands-on exercises to enhance participant engagement and learning outcomes.

Strong Institutional Support and Presence
Ms. Jiswan Tuladhar Shrestha, Senior Vice President of NATTA, and Mr. Mohan Sharma, President of NATTA Madhesh Province, were actively involved throughout the program. Their presence and continued encouragement underscored NATTA’s commitment to nurturing tourism excellence at the provincial level.
Ms. Shrestha emphasized the importance of structured training in creating sustainable tourism ecosystems and reiterated NATTA’s vision to uplift provincial tourism capabilities. Mr. Sharma also addressed the participants, expressing optimism that such programs will contribute significantly to the region’s tourism growth and help bridge gaps between local potential and market demand.

Promoting Regional Tourism Growth
This initiative aligns with Nepal Tourism Board’s broader strategy to decentralize tourism development by empowering local tourism stakeholders. The Madhesh Province, rich in culture, heritage, and religious tourism potential, remains an underexplored region. Through such capacity-building programs, stakeholders aim to unlock this potential by creating competitive tour packages that cater to niche interests such as religious tourism, agro-tourism, and cross-border travel.
The three-day training in Birgunj marks a significant step toward developing a skilled tourism workforce in Madhesh Province. By enhancing the practical knowledge and creativity of local tourism professionals, the program is expected to lead to the creation of innovative tour packages that attract more visitors to the region. The collaboration between NTB, NATTA Centre, and NATTA Madhesh highlights a successful model of institutional cooperation aimed at strengthening the grassroots of Nepal’s tourism sector.
