Nepal Rastra Bank Announces Foreign Exchange Rates for Sunday

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central bank of Nepal, has announced the official foreign currency exchange rates for Sunday. The latest rates include major global currencies such as the US Dollar, Euro, British Pound, and several Asian and Middle Eastern currencies.

The central bank sets these exchange rates daily, which serve as a benchmark for commercial banks and financial institutions across the country. However, actual exchange rates offered by commercial banks may vary slightly based on market conditions and service charges.

US Dollar Exchange Rate Fixed at NPR 136.47 (Buy) and NPR 137.07 (Sell)

According to Nepal Rastra Bank’s announcement, the exchange rate for the US Dollar has been set with a buying rate of NPR 136.47 and a selling rate of NPR 137.07. The US Dollar remains the most traded currency in Nepal, often used as a reference for international transactions, imports, remittances, and tourism-related exchanges.

The fixed exchange rate indicates a slight variation compared to previous days, reflecting global currency market trends and local demand and supply factors.

Euro, British Pound, and Swiss Franc Rates Declared

The Euro, a key currency of the European Union, has been fixed with a buying rate of NPR 159.90 and a selling rate of NPR 160.60. The British Pound Sterling, another important currency, has a buying rate of NPR 187.39 and a selling rate of NPR 188.22.

The Swiss Franc exchange rate stands at NPR 170.90 for buying and NPR 171.65 for selling. These currencies are widely used for business transactions and investments in Nepal and thus closely monitored by exporters, importers, and financial institutions.

Exchange Rates for Australian, Canadian, and Singapore Dollars

Other significant foreign currencies include the Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, and Singapore Dollar. The Australian Dollar has a buying rate of NPR 89.20 and a selling rate of NPR 89.60. The Canadian Dollar is set at NPR 99.97 (buy) and NPR 100.41 (sell), while the Singapore Dollar’s buying and selling rates are NPR 106.99 and NPR 107.46, respectively.

These currencies are commonly involved in trade and remittance flows between Nepal and their respective countries.

Asian Currencies: Japanese Yen, Chinese Yuan, and Others

The exchange rate for the Japanese Yen is set at NPR 9.44 for 10 Yen (buying) and NPR 9.48 for selling. The Chinese Yuan has a buying rate of NPR 19.03 and selling rate of NPR 19.11.

The Saudi Arabian Riyal and Qatari Riyal are set with buying rates of NPR 36.39 and NPR 37.34, and selling rates of NPR 36.55 and NPR 37.50, respectively. These currencies are particularly relevant due to the large Nepali workforce employed in Gulf countries.

Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern Currencies

Nepal Rastra Bank has also fixed rates for several Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern currencies. The Thai Baht has a buying rate of NPR 4.18 and a selling rate of NPR 4.20. The United Arab Emirates Dirham stands at NPR 37.16 (buy) and NPR 37.32 (sell), while the Malaysian Ringgit is priced at NPR 32.27 (buy) and NPR 32.41 (sell).

Hong Kong Dollar and Gulf Currencies

The Hong Kong Dollar is fixed with a buying rate of NPR 17.38 and a selling rate of NPR 17.46. These rates are significant for Nepal’s financial relations and remittance inflows from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Indian Rupee Exchange Rate Steady at NPR 160 (Buy) and NPR 160.15 (Sell)

Given the close economic ties between Nepal and India, the exchange rate for the Indian Rupee is closely watched. NRB has set the buying rate for 100 Indian Rupees at NPR 160 and the selling rate at NPR 160.15.

The Indian currency exchange rate is critical for Nepal’s border trade, imports, and daily economic activities. The steady rates reflect the ongoing bilateral trade balance and currency stability.

Flexibility and Variability of Exchange Rates

Nepal Rastra Bank has clarified that the exchange rates announced can be revised at any time as per necessity, based on fluctuations in the foreign exchange market. This flexibility allows the central bank to respond to global economic shifts, foreign currency demand, and other financial factors.

Commercial banks, money changers, and other authorized financial institutions may offer exchange rates that differ from the NRB’s official rates, depending on their operational costs and market competition.

Exchange Rate Updates Available on NRB Website

To ensure transparency and accessibility, Nepal Rastra Bank updates and publishes the latest foreign exchange rates on its official website daily. Businesses, exporters, importers, and individuals are encouraged to consult these official rates to make informed financial decisions.

The central bank’s role in stabilizing currency fluctuations and regulating foreign exchange markets remains crucial for Nepal’s economic stability and growth.

The announcement of the foreign exchange rates by Nepal Rastra Bank for Sunday reflects ongoing monitoring of global currency movements and their impact on Nepal’s economy. As the country continues to engage in international trade, remittances, and foreign investment, the accurate and timely determination of exchange rates ensures smooth financial operations and market confidence.

Residents and businesses are advised to keep track of these rates and consult authorized financial institutions when conducting currency exchanges or cross-border transactions.
