Grand Opening Ceremony Marks Completion of Hilton Kathmandu

Kathmandu’s skyline welcomes the towering presence of the newly constructed 18-storey Hilton Hotel, with a ceremonial puja held to mark the auspicious occasion. The hotel, funded by Shanker Group, saw its stakeholders and key investors participate in the religious rites, as advised by the priests overseeing the event.

Scheduled to open bookings from Shrawan 4, the hotel is currently in its final preparations for a soft opening. With an investment totaling NPR 8 billion, the grand inauguration (Grand Opening) is set for Shrawan 11. Representatives from Hilton Hotels & Resorts, along with over 200 international and Nepali dignitaries, are expected to attend.

Hilton, a renowned global hospitality chain, has entrusted Hilton Worldwide Management Limited, England, to manage the operations of Hilton Kathmandu. Known for managing over 123 hotels and resorts worldwide, Hilton’s presence promises to elevate Kathmandu’s hospitality sector.

The construction of this luxurious hotel, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, faced delays due to various factors, including the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in a three-year postponement and increased costs. Originally estimated at NPR 6.8 billion, stakeholders now estimate the total investment at NPR 8 billion.

Sahil Agrawal, holding 90% of Shanker Group’s investment in the hotel, confirmed plans for additional amenities such as a nine-acre area and a rooftop pool overlooking Phewa Lake. The hotel will feature a five-star rating, offering health clubs, spas, environmentally friendly swimming pools, fitness centers, and a variety of local and international dining options.

Hilton Kathmandu aims to become a prime venue for weddings, conferences, and meetings, boasting two underground parking lots and a nightclub. With approximately 300 employees from the Shanker Group expected to operate the facility, the hotel anticipates becoming a hallmark of luxury and comfort in the heart of Kathmandu.
