Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central monetary authority of Nepal, has issued the official foreign currency exchange rates for Sunday, 4th Shrawan 2082 (July 20, 2025). These rates apply for all commercial transactions involving foreign currency and will remain effective until further notice or revision by the central bank.
US Dollar and Major Global Currencies
According to NRB, the buying rate of the US Dollar is fixed at NPR 137.54, while the selling rate is set at NPR 138.14. The US Dollar remains one of the most actively traded foreign currencies in Nepal, used widely for remittances, imports, and international payments.
The Euro, the official currency of the Eurozone, is valued at NPR 160.13 for buying and NPR 160.83 for selling. Similarly, the British Pound Sterling has been set at NPR 185.05 for buying and NPR 185.85 for selling, reflecting its relatively stronger position in the global financial market.
The Swiss Franc, another major European currency, is being traded at NPR 171.61 for buying and NPR 172.36 for selling. These values are essential for traders, travelers, and banking institutions involved in international transactions.
Popular Trade and Remittance Currencies
Among the currencies frequently used for remittance and labor migration purposes, the Saudi Arabian Riyal is fixed at NPR 36.67 (buying) and NPR 36.83 (selling), while the Qatari Riyal is valued at NPR 37.73 and NPR 37.90 respectively.
The UAE Dirham, also widely used by Nepali workers in the Gulf region, is set at NPR 37.45 for buying and NPR 37.61 for selling. The Malaysian Ringgit is marked at NPR 32.42 and NPR 32.56 respectively, and the Omani Riyal, known for being among the highest-valued currencies, is trading at NPR 357.24 (buying) and NPR 358.80 (selling).
Japan’s currency, the Yen, has been calculated per 10 units, with the buying rate fixed at NPR 9.26 and the selling rate at NPR 9.30. This practice of quoting JPY per 10 units is standard across many countries due to its lower per-unit value.
Asian Regional Currencies and Their Market Rates
China’s Yuan Renminbi is set at NPR 19.16 for buying and NPR 19.25 for selling. The Singapore Dollar is fixed at NPR 107.18 (buying) and NPR 107.64 (selling), while the Australian Dollar has a buying rate of NPR 89.71 and a selling rate of NPR 90.10.
The Canadian Dollar, often used by Nepalis residing in Canada, is being exchanged at NPR 100.23 for buying and NPR 100.67 for selling. Likewise, the South Korean Won, quoted per 100 units, is valued at NPR 9.89 for buying and NPR 9.94 for selling.

The Thai Baht is fixed at NPR 4.25 and NPR 4.27 for buying and selling respectively, while the Swedish Krona stands at NPR 14.23 (buying) and NPR 14.29 (selling), and the Danish Kroner at NPR 21.46 and NPR 21.55 respectively.
Other Prominent Currencies
The Hong Kong Dollar is currently valued at NPR 17.52 (buying) and NPR 17.60 (selling). Among the highest valued currencies in today’s exchange rate list is the Kuwaiti Dinar, with the buying rate set at NPR 450.15 and the selling rate at NPR 452.12. The Bahraini Dinar is trading at NPR 364.80 for buying and NPR 366.39 for selling.
These rates are especially relevant for banks, currency exchange institutions, import-export businesses, and foreign travelers, among others who deal with cross-border transactions and foreign remittances.
Indian Currency Exchange Rate
As Nepal shares a special economic and open-border relationship with India, the Indian Rupee (INR) remains crucial in daily economic activities. NRB has set the buying rate for 100 Indian Rupees at NPR 160.00 and the selling rate at NPR 160.15. This rate is central for importers, tourists, and businesses involved in cross-border trade.
