Thailand Comes to Nepal: Vibrant Culture and Business Showcase in August 2025

The Royal Thai Embassy of Thailand in Kathmandu, in collaboration with the Thai Trade Centre in New Delhi, is all set to present a three-day cultural and trade extravaganza, Journey to Thailand & Top Thai Brands 2025, at The Plaza in Pulchowk, Lalitpur from August 29 to 31, 2025. The event, which promises to be a vibrant celebration of Thai culture and commerce, aims to strengthen cultural ties, boost tourism, and open avenues for trade collaboration between Thailand and Nepal.

Ambassador Highlights Event Goals

At a press conference held in Kathmandu on Friday, Suwapong Sirisorn, Ambassador of Thailand to Nepal, highlighted the festival’s objectives. According to Ambassador Sirisorn, the event is designed to foster cultural exchange while simultaneously promoting trade and tourism partnerships between the two nations. “This showcase will not only allow the people of Nepal to experience Thailand’s rich culture firsthand but also provide a platform for businesses, educational institutions, and healthcare providers to network and explore potential collaborations,” he said.

The ambassador emphasized that cultural diplomacy forms a cornerstone of Thailand-Nepal relations. “Through shared experiences in art, cuisine, and lifestyle, we hope to bring our peoples closer and create sustainable opportunities in tourism and commerce,” he added.

Event Schedule and Access

The festival will officially open on August 29 at 2:00 p.m. with a formal inaugural ceremony running until 2:30 p.m. Following the ceremony, doors will open to the public free of charge. On the first day, visitors can enjoy the showcase from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., while on August 30 and 31, the event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

This free-entry policy underscores the organizers’ commitment to making the festival accessible to a wide audience. Families, students, tourists, and cultural enthusiasts can all participate in the festivities without worrying about admission costs.

Cultural Extravaganza

Attendees can look forward to an immersive experience of Thai culture, including traditional performances, authentic Thai cuisine, and interactive workshops. Traditional dance and music performances will be staged throughout the three days, showcasing Thailand’s rich cultural heritage.

Food enthusiasts will have the opportunity to sample classic Thai dishes, from spicy curries to flavorful street snacks, all prepared by expert chefs. Meanwhile, Thai massage sessions and handicraft workshops will provide interactive and hands-on experiences, allowing visitors to learn traditional techniques and crafts.

“The idea is to give attendees a holistic experience of Thailand’s culture, art, and lifestyle without them having to travel abroad,” explained one of the event organizers.

Business, Education, and Healthcare Exhibits

In addition to cultural showcases, the event will bring together representatives from leading Thai companies, hospitals, and universities. This aspect of the exhibition is aimed at fostering business networking and educational collaboration between Nepal and Thailand.

Visitors will have the chance to explore Thai products, ranging from consumer goods to health and wellness services. Universities and educational institutions will provide information on study opportunities in Thailand, while hospitals and healthcare organizations will present services and technologies available for collaboration or learning.

“The showcase is a unique platform where business meets culture. Entrepreneurs and professionals can interact directly with Thai representatives and explore partnerships,” Ambassador Sirisorn noted.

Exciting Raffle and Visitor Engagement

Adding to the excitement of the festival, the organizers have announced a raffle with attractive prizes. Participants will have the chance to win a round-trip air ticket to Thailand, along with other gifts. The raffle is intended to engage visitors further and create memorable experiences linked to the event.

The interactive element of the showcase ensures that visitors are not just passive observers but active participants in the cultural and trade festivities. This approach reflects a growing trend in international exhibitions that combine entertainment, culture, and commerce to maximize public interest and engagement.

Bringing Thailand to Nepal

The Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu and the Thai Trade Centre in New Delhi have emphasized that the showcase represents a significant step in deepening Thailand-Nepal relations. By bringing Thai culture, products, and services directly to Lalitpur, the organizers hope to cultivate mutual understanding and appreciation between the two nations.

“This festival is a testament to the strong bilateral relations between Thailand and Nepal. It allows both countries to explore opportunities in tourism, trade, education, and culture in a fun, engaging, and meaningful way,” said Ambassador Sirisorn.

The three-day festival promises to be an unmissable opportunity for residents of Kathmandu and nearby areas to experience a slice of Thailand. With a blend of traditional performances, culinary delights, hands-on workshops, business exhibitions, and exciting raffles, the event is poised to leave a lasting impression on all attendees.
