Nepal Shines on Global Stage at MATKA 2026 Nordic Travel Fair

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) is presenting the country’s rich and diverse tourism experiences at MATKA 2026 – the Nordic Travel Fair, held from 14 to 18 January 2026 at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre, Finland. The participation aims to enhance Nepal’s visibility and strengthen partnerships in the Nordic tourism market.

Nepal is represented through a 54 sq. m national pavilion (Stall No. 7m130), showcasing the offerings of nine Nepali tourism companies:

Nordic Market: A Strategic Focus for Nepal

The Nordic countries, including Finland, are important source markets for Nepal, especially in adventure tourism, trekking, nature-based experiences, and sustainable travel. Finnish travelers have consistently shown interest in Nepal’s Himalayan landscapes, cultural heritage, and authentic travel experiences, making Finland a key market within the region.

NTB Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, said, “MATKA provides a valuable platform to connect with Nordic travel professionals and consumers. Nepal’s participation reflects our commitment to promoting sustainable, experiential, and year-round tourism while strengthening long-standing tourism ties with Finland and the wider Nordic region.”

Engagement Through Meetings and Cultural Performances

During the fair, NTB officials are conducting business meetings, destination promotions, and cultural performances at the Nepal pavilion, with support from the Finland–Nepal Friendship Association, showcasing the country’s unique tourism potential to a global audience.
