Strengthening Minor Hotels’ European Footprint

The Adriatic expansion aligns with Minor Hotels’ long-term vision to deepen its presence in leisure-driven European markets, particularly those offering a blend of heritage, sustainability, and coastal charm. As Croatia and Slovenia continue to gain recognition for boutique luxury and environmentally conscious tourism, the group sees strong potential to introduce its global hospitality standards to these destinations.

Company leadership highlighted that the Adriatic region offers exceptional opportunities to attract discerning travelers seeking authentic yet refined experiences along the Mediterranean corridor.

Hotel Palace Portorož to Relaunch as Wellness-Focused Destination

The first project, the historic Hotel Palace Portorož, will be repositioned under Minor Hotels’ premium Minor Reserve Collection and is scheduled to relaunch in early 2027.

Located along Slovenia’s Adriatic coastline, the resort will feature 183 rooms and suites designed to cater to wellness-oriented travelers. Plans include three gourmet restaurants, three bars, a full-service spa, and outdoor leisure facilities offering panoramic sea views.

Portorož has long been associated with health and wellness tourism, making it an ideal setting for a retreat centered on relaxation, rejuvenation, and cultural immersion. The redevelopment is expected to enhance Slovenia’s profile as a destination combining natural beauty with sustainable luxury.

Anantara Adriatic Istria Resort to Debut in Croatia

The second property, Anantara Adriatic Istria Resort, will rise in the coastal town of Savudrija, a location celebrated for its beaches, vineyards, and historic charm.

The resort will feature 186 rooms, suites, and villas, many offering uninterrupted sea views, alongside three restaurants, four bars, and a comprehensive wellness center. A major highlight will be access to the Golf Adriatic PGA National Croatia, an 18-hole championship course designed to attract international golf tourism.

In addition to leisure travel, the resort will support the meetings, incentives, conferences, and events (MICE) segment, contributing to Croatia’s growing business tourism market.

Partnership with MK Group to Drive Development

To deliver the projects, Minor Hotels has entered a strategic management agreement with MK Group, a regional business group with strong operational experience across Southeast Europe.

The collaboration combines MK Group’s local expertise and infrastructure knowledge with Minor Hotels’ international brand portfolio and operational standards. Both partners aim to position the Adriatic developments as flagship luxury destinations capable of competing on the global stage.

Economic and Tourism Impact Expected

Industry analysts anticipate that the introduction of internationally branded luxury resorts will generate substantial economic benefits, including increased visitor spending, job creation, and enhanced year-round tourism activity.

The developments are also aligned with both Croatia’s and Slovenia’s national strategies to promote sustainable tourism while preserving cultural heritage. By focusing on wellness, local experiences, and environmentally conscious design, the projects aim to strike a balance between growth and long-term destination stewardship.

Adriatic Region Emerging as Premium Travel Hub

The expansion comes at a time when global travel demand is shifting toward experiential and coastal destinations offering exclusivity without overcrowding. With improved connectivity and rising international awareness, the Adriatic is increasingly viewed as an alternative to traditional Mediterranean hotspots.

Minor Hotels’ investment underscores confidence in the region’s ability to attract high-value travelers seeking authenticity, scenic landscapes, and premium hospitality experiences.

A New Chapter for Luxury Tourism in the Adriatic

With the launch of Hotel Palace Portorož in Slovenia and Anantara Adriatic Istria Resort in Croatia, Minor Hotels is poised to introduce a new benchmark for upscale accommodation along the Adriatic coast.

As both resorts prepare for their anticipated 2027 openings, the developments signal a broader transformation of the region into a leading destination for luxury, wellness, and culturally immersive travel, blending local identity with world-class hospitality standards.
