Minor Hotels has announced plans to launch a new luxury property in New York City, with The Wolseley Hotel New York scheduled to open in early 2027. The 76-room flagship hotel will be located at 130 West 44th Street, just steps from Bryant Park, marking the global debut of the new The Wolseley Hotels brand.
The project is expected to add a new high-end hospitality address in Midtown Manhattan while attracting luxury travellers, theatre enthusiasts, and international visitors to one of the city’s busiest tourism districts.

Flagship Property in Midtown Manhattan
According to Minor Hotels, the new property will be positioned within walking distance of major attractions such as Times Square and the historic Broadway Theatre District. The location places the hotel at the centre of New York’s cultural and business scene, making it an attractive destination for both leisure and corporate travellers.
The hotel will operate from a historic building originally constructed in 1905 as the clubhouse of The Lambs Club. The structure was designed by the renowned architectural firm McKim, Mead & White and is widely recognised for its association with Broadway’s creative community. Developers say the building will undergo careful restoration to preserve its architectural heritage while incorporating modern luxury amenities suited to today’s travellers. The property is owned by hospitality investment and development company BJGH.
A Blend of European Elegance and Manhattan Energy
The Wolseley Hotels brand is inspired by the iconic The Wolseley, a celebrated dining destination in London known for its grand café atmosphere and refined European style. The new hotel concept aims to combine British elegance with the vibrant energy of global cities. In New York, the brand will reinterpret this approach through a distinctly Manhattan lens, merging polished European hospitality with the dynamic pace of Midtown.
Executives say the hotel will focus on personalised service, timeless design, and a welcoming environment intended to attract international luxury travellers as well as residents seeking a sophisticated urban retreat.
Boutique-Style Luxury Accommodation
The Wolseley Hotel New York will feature 76 guest rooms and suites, a relatively small number for the Midtown district. This limited capacity positions the property in the boutique luxury segment, offering guests a more intimate and personalised experience compared to larger chain hotels.
Interior design plans include a combination of classical elegance and contemporary simplicity. Rooms are expected to feature bespoke craftsmanship, carefully designed layouts, and understated finishes that provide both comfort and style for short visits as well as longer stays. Hotel operators say the guest experience will emphasise thoughtful amenities, residential-style comfort, and personalised touches designed to appeal to repeat visitors and high-value corporate travellers.
Signature Restaurant and Speakeasy Bar
A key attraction of the property will be The Wolseley New York restaurant and bar, the brand’s first dining venue in the United States. Inspired by the grand café tradition of its London counterpart, the restaurant will offer all-day dining and classic cocktails in an elegant social setting.
Industry observers expect the venue to become a major culinary destination for both hotel guests and residents. Its location near Broadway theatres also makes it an appealing option for pre- and post-theatre dining. In addition to the ground-floor restaurant, the hotel will feature an intimate speakeasy-style bar located at the cellar level, offering guests a more exclusive nightlife experience.

Wellness Facilities and Tourism Impact
The hotel will also include a wellness centre featuring spa and fitness facilities, catering to the growing demand for wellness-focused travel experiences among both business and leisure travellers. Tourism and hospitality stakeholders believe the new property will contribute positively to Midtown Manhattan’s hospitality sector by creating new jobs, supporting local suppliers, and expanding the area’s luxury accommodation offerings.
With its blend of historic architecture, European-inspired hospitality, and prime Midtown location, The Wolseley Hotel New York is expected to become a prominent addition to New York’s luxury hotel scene when it opens in 2027. The property will also serve as the foundation for the global expansion of The Wolseley Hotels brand in major cities across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East.
