Laxman Thapa has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ila Hotel & Resort, marking a significant leadership development in Nepal’s growing hospitality sector. The decision was made by the board of directors of IME Hospitality, with the appointment taking effect from March 19.
Veteran Hospitality Leader with Global Experience
Thapa brings with him more than two decades of extensive experience in hospitality management, having held senior leadership roles across multiple countries, including Nepal, Vanuatu, the Maldives, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia. His diverse international exposure spans high-end hotels, resorts, and casino operations, positioning him as a seasoned professional capable of driving growth and innovation in the sector.

Before joining IME Hospitality, Thapa served as Chief Operating Officer at Siddhartha Hospitality Group, where he successfully led the operations of more than 30 hotels, resorts, cafés, and event venues. His tenure there was marked by operational expansion and improved service delivery across the group’s portfolio.
Proven Track Record in Renowned Hospitality Brands
Over the years, Thapa has held key leadership roles in several prominent hospitality establishments. His experience includes working at Hotel Yak & Yeti in Kathmandu, Iririki Island Resort & Jewel Casino, properties under CG Hospitality in Chitwan, and Tiger Palace Resort.
In addition, he has collaborated with globally recognized hospitality brands such as Le Méridien in Dubai, The Westin Langkawi, Sheraton Maldives, Aloft Abu Dhabi, and Rosewood Jeddah. This global exposure has equipped him with a deep understanding of international service standards and operational excellence.
Strengthening IME Hospitality’s Portfolio
IME Hospitality, a subsidiary of the IME Group, manages a range of hotel and resort properties across Nepal. Its portfolio includes Hotel Le Himalaya, Lakeside Retreat, and Hotel Ila, among others, located in key tourist destinations such as Baglung and Gaindakot.
