The Hotels and Tourism Index posted a single-digit gain in today’s trading session, rising by 113.31 points or 1.38 percent to close at 8,276.85. The rebound comes a day after the sector had declined by 41.35 points, indicating a recovery in investor sentiment toward tourism-related stocks.

The index opened at 8,183.86 and witnessed fluctuations throughout the day, reaching an intraday high of 8,330.65 before dipping to a low of 8,155.41. Market analysts attribute the upward movement to renewed buying interest in hospitality and tourism companies, which continue to draw attention amid expectations of sectoral growth.

NEPSE Registers Marginal Increase

The benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) also recorded a modest gain, climbing by 5.36 points or 0.18 percent to settle at 2,838.40. This follows a significant drop of 33.83 points in the previous trading session, suggesting a slight stabilization in the broader market. The NEPSE index opened at 2,835.22 and reached an intraday high of 2,843.57, while the day’s low stood at 2,808.02. The movement reflects cautious optimism among investors, with limited but steady participation across sectors.

Trading Activity and Market Performance

Trading activity remained robust during the session, with total turnover amounting to Rs. 7.46 Arba. A total of 20,743,884 shares were traded across 342 listed companies through 111,607 transactions, indicating active market participation.

The total market capitalization stood at Rs. 48.31 Kharba, while the float market capitalization was recorded at Rs. 16.11 Kharba. Despite only marginal gains in the benchmark index, the overall market maintained steady liquidity and investor engagement.
