Nepal’s flagship international tourism event is set to return with renewed momentum as PATA Nepal Chapter and Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) formalized a strategic agreement to co-host the sixth edition of the Himalayan Travel Mart (HTM 2026), signaling a strong push to elevate the country’s global tourism profile.
The agreement marks a continuation of a successful partnership between the two institutions, both of which have played a pivotal role in positioning Nepal as a competitive destination in the international travel market. With global tourism steadily rebounding, stakeholders see HTM 2026 as a timely initiative to reconnect Nepal with key source markets and strengthen its brand identity.

A Flagship Tourism Event Returns
Scheduled from June 1 to 4, 2026, the four-day event will be held at The Plaza in Lalitpur, within the Kathmandu Valley. Recognized as Nepal’s premier business-to-business (B2B) tourism platform, the Himalayan Travel Mart brings together a diverse mix of international buyers, travel trade professionals, tourism entrepreneurs, influencers, and media representatives.
The event is designed not just as a marketplace, but as a comprehensive forum where ideas, trends, and partnerships converge. Organizers expect a significant turnout of global delegates, making it one of the largest tourism gatherings in the region this year.
Roles and Responsibilities Defined
The agreement was signed by Deepak Raj Joshi on behalf of the Nepal Tourism Board and Narendra Bhatta, General Secretary of PATA Nepal Chapter and Convener of HTM 2026.
Under the terms of the partnership, the Nepal Tourism Board will serve as the “Organizing Partner,” providing strategic support, coordination, and financial assistance. This includes facilitating the participation of international buyers, keynote speakers, and media personnel, key elements that ensure global visibility and engagement.
Meanwhile, the PATA Nepal Chapter will take the lead in executing the event, overseeing planning, promotion, and on-ground management. The collaboration reflects a clear division of responsibilities aimed at maximizing efficiency and impact.
Diverse Program to Showcase Nepal
HTM 2026 will feature a wide-ranging program tailored to highlight Nepal’s tourism diversity while fostering meaningful business connections. Pre-event familiarization (FAM) trips will be organized for international delegates, offering curated experiences across major destinations such as Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara, Lumbini, and Sindhupalchowk.
These immersive visits aim to give participants firsthand insight into Nepal’s cultural heritage, natural beauty, and adventure tourism potential, critical factors in influencing travel decisions and partnerships.
In addition to destination tours, the event will host the HTM Insight Forum, featuring panel discussions, keynote sessions, and knowledge-sharing platforms focused on emerging trends, sustainability, digital transformation, and resilience in tourism.
Business networking will remain at the core of the mart, with structured B2B meetings enabling direct engagement between buyers and sellers. Cultural programs and informal networking events are also planned to enhance relationship-building in a more relaxed setting.

Strengthening Nepal’s Tourism Identity
Tourism officials view the continued collaboration between the Nepal Tourism Board and PATA Nepal Chapter as a reflection of a unified vision to strengthen Nepal’s position in the global travel landscape. By leveraging the Himalayan Travel Mart as a strategic platform, stakeholders aim to boost destination visibility, attract high-value tourists, and generate long-term business opportunities.
The event also aligns with Nepal’s broader tourism recovery and growth strategy, which emphasizes diversification, quality experiences, and sustainable practices. As international travel demand evolves, platforms like HTM are expected to play a crucial role in aligning Nepal’s offerings with global expectations.
Gateway to the Himalayas
Over the years, the Himalayan Travel Mart has established itself as more than just a trade event, it is a branding initiative that showcases Nepal as the “Gateway to the Himalayas” and a destination offering a “Lifetime Experience.” From adventure and culture to spirituality and wellness, the mart encapsulates the country’s multifaceted appeal.

With preparations now underway, HTM 2026 is poised to build on the success of its previous editions, fostering international collaboration and reinforcing Nepal’s reputation as a must-visit destination.
As the countdown begins, industry stakeholders are optimistic that the event will not only revive connections but also open new pathways for growth in Nepal’s tourism sector.
