In a bid to enhance tourism promotion and provide comprehensive information about the region, Madi Municipality has officially launched a new digital platform titled ‘Explore Madi’.
The portal aims to serve as a one-stop information hub, offering detailed insights into the cultural, natural, and tourism assets of the Madi Valley, a growing destination in Chitwan.
Multilingual Information to Reach Global Audience
According to Information Officer Praveen Bhandari, the portal has been designed to cater to both domestic and international audiences. It features online translation in multiple global languages, allowing users from different parts of the world to easily access information about it’s tourism offerings.
Through the portal, visitors can explore details about key attractions, including tourist sites, religious destinations, natural landscapes, homestays, farm stays, and transportation options. Additionally, the platform provides updates on ongoing activities, festivals, fairs, and upcoming events in the region.
Integration of an AI System for an Interactive Experience
One of the standout features of the ‘Explore Madi’ portal is the integration of an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based system, enabling users to interact directly with the platform. Bhandari stated that users can engage in real-time conversations to obtain information about Madi, making the platform more interactive and user-friendly. “The municipality has been working on this initiative for the past year, and it has now been launched in the New Year,” he said. He added that the portal is expected to function as a comprehensive digital archive of Madi, preserving and promoting its tourism-related data.
QR Code Integration and Local Outreach Underway
To enhance accessibility, the municipality has also begun placing QR codes at various locations across Madi, allowing visitors to quickly access the portal through their smartphones. At the same time, awareness programmes are being conducted for homestay operators and local stakeholders to ensure effective utilization of the platform. Officials believe that this digital integration will significantly improve the overall tourism experience in the region.
Digital System Introduced for Homestay Management
Currently, seven community homestays are in operation in Madi. To streamline tourism management, the municipality has provided each homestay with unique user IDs and passwords, enabling them to manage their services digitally.
Through the portal, tourists can access information such as:
- Room availability
- Food and beverage pricing
- Available tourism packages
Visitors can also directly contact homestay operators for bookings, inquiries, and feedback, making the system more transparent and efficient.
Boosting Rural Tourism and Local Economy
