Air Serbia has announced plans to introduce a special commemorative aircraft livery as part of celebrations marking the airline’s 100th anniversary next year, with the initiative expected to coincide with Expo 2027 in Belgrade. The airline is currently developing several design concepts for the centennial livery, which will commemorate a century of aviation in Serbia while serving as a key element of a broader international tourism and branding campaign.
Centenary and Expo 2027 to Drive Global Promotion
Speaking to Euronews Serbia, Air Serbia Chief Executive Officer Jiri Marek said the airline is working on multiple concepts but noted that it is still too early to reveal specific details. “Next year presents a unique opportunity, as Serbia will host Expo while Air Serbia celebrates its 100th anniversary,” Marek said. He explained that Expo 2027 will provide a powerful international marketing platform to showcase both Serbia and its national airline to millions of visitors and global audiences.
Aviation and Expo Share Common Vision
According to Marek, the Expo 2027 slogan, “Play for Humanity,” closely reflects the role of aviation in bringing people, cultures, and destinations together. “The Expo slogan aligns perfectly with aviation because our industry is all about connecting people and cultures,” he said. Air Serbia plans to collaborate closely with Expo organizers on a series of promotional initiatives designed to strengthen Serbia’s international profile and highlight Belgrade as a major tourism, business, and cultural destination.

The airline said preparations are underway for several joint campaigns aimed at promoting Serbia, Belgrade, Expo 2027, and the airline’s centenary simultaneously. Although details of the projects remain under development, Marek indicated that a range of special initiatives are being planned to celebrate the historic anniversary while supporting the country’s tourism and aviation sectors. “We are preparing a number of joint initiatives with Expo to promote Serbia, Belgrade, Expo 2027, and the centenary of our airline. While it’s too early to reveal the details, we have many exciting plans in the works,” he added.
