The water level of the Trishuli River at Malekhu in Dhading has risen significantly following flooding in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa, prompting authorities to urge communities and travellers along the river corridor to remain alert. The Flood Forecasting Section under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reported that the river has crossed the warning level at the Phurke (Malekhu) hydrological station and continues to rise. The latest measurement shows the water level at 10.48 metres, while the danger level at the station is recorded at 8 metres.
Travellers and Riverbank Communities Urged to Stay Alert
With the Trishuli continuing to rise, residents in flood-prone areas near the river have been advised to remain highly cautious and move to safer locations if water levels increase further. Travellers using the Trishuli corridor have also been urged to exercise caution and stay updated on road and weather conditions. People living close to the river should follow safety instructions issued by local administrations and relevant authorities and avoid approaching the river during periods of strong flow.
More Rain Expected in Rasuwa and Nuwakot
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast the possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall in and around Rasuwa and Nuwakot from this afternoon, which could further affect the flood situation and complicate rescue and emergency operations.
Meteorologist Sanjeev Adhikari has urged residents and travellers in the two districts to maintain heightened vigilance as rainfall could increase water levels and create additional challenges for ongoing search and rescue efforts following the Bhotekoshi flood. Authorities are continuing to monitor the river system and weather conditions closely and have encouraged the public to rely on official updates while taking necessary precautions.
