A total of 289 foreign nationals and tourists have been rescued following the devastating flash floods in the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river systems that affected Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Gorkha districts on August 26, 2026.
According to the latest situation update issued by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), as of 6:00 PM on August 30, 2026, five additional foreign nationals are now in contact, while 591 foreign nationals/tourists remain out of communication. The figures have been compiled in coordination with the Tourist Police and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
Five foreign nationals re-established contact
Among the five foreign nationals who have recently established contact are three Spanish nationals, one US national and one Belgian national. Authorities and tourism agencies continue to work to establish the whereabouts and safety of those who remain out of communication. The NTB said search, rescue, evacuation and assistance operations are continuing for foreign nationals and tourists who remain stranded, injured or otherwise affected by the disaster.
Indian nationals account for the largest number of rescued tourists
According to the country-wise details released by the NTB, Indian nationals account for the largest number of rescued foreign tourists, with 180 people rescued. Chinese nationals comprise the second-largest group, with 89 rescued. The country-wise breakdown of rescued foreign nationals is as follows

NTB coordinates with government and security agencies
The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, NTB, Tourist Police and other concerned stakeholders have been working in close coordination with government agencies, security authorities and local administrations to identify and establish the status of foreign nationals and tourists affected by the floods.
The NTB said it is coordinating with the Tourist Police, NDRRMA, tourism stakeholders and other relevant agencies to facilitate information-sharing and provide assistance. The Board added that it will continue to extend all possible support as verified information becomes available.
Kathmandu-Mugling road blocked at Krishnabhir
The NTB has also issued a travel advisory concerning road conditions in the flood-affected areas. The Kathmandu-Mugling road, also known as the Prithvi Highway, has been completely obstructed at Krishnabhir in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality, Dhading, after the river eroded the road and caused a section to collapse. Apart from a few road sections affected by flooding in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Gorkha, road networks across the rest of the country remain operational, according to the NTB.
Tourists urged to check road and weather conditions
Tourists planning to travel through or toward the affected districts have been advised to check the latest road and weather conditions before beginning their journey. The NTB has urged tourists to follow the instructions and safety guidance issued by local administrations, security agencies and other concerned authorities, particularly while travelling in areas affected by floods, landslides and damaged infrastructure.

The NTB said coordination and rescue efforts will continue until the status of affected tourists is further established, with priority being given to those who remain stranded, injured or out of communication.
