The World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards has extended the submission deadline for its 2026 programme, giving individuals, businesses and organisations working to advance sustainable tourism additional time to participate. Applicants from across the global travel and hospitality sector can now submit their entries until September 14, 2026. The awards recognise initiatives and individuals making meaningful contributions to sustainability and encouraging positive transformation across the tourism industry.
22 Categories to Recognise Sustainable Tourism Leaders
The 2026 programme features 22 award categories, developed with guidance from the Awards Advisory Board. The categories span a broad range of sustainability-related areas, including organisational performance, destinations, hospitality, transportation, leadership, measurable impact, storytelling and influence, as well as special recognition.
Following the submission period, applications will undergo an evaluation process involving students specialising in sustainable business at Nova School of Business and Economics in Lisbon. Entries that achieve the required benchmark will proceed to the shortlist before receiving final consideration from the Awards Advisory Board.
Global Voting and Paris Gala
Global voting will open to travel and tourism professionals from September 21 to October 21, 2026. The winners will subsequently be revealed during the third annual World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards Gala Ceremony in Paris, France, on December 9, 2026.
The ceremony will conclude the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance Global Summit, scheduled for December 8–9 in Paris, creating an opportunity for tourism and hospitality leaders to come together around sustainability and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Justin Cooke, Executive Vice-President of the World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards, said the extended deadline would allow more organisations and individuals across the sustainable travel and hospitality sector to participate and have their work recognised. The programme is delivered in partnership with the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, whose network represents more than 66,000 hotels, 8 million rooms, 300 brands and over 100 supply-chain and strategic partners worldwide.
Glenn Mandziuk, President and CEO of the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, said the extended entry period would help highlight those leading meaningful sustainability efforts while the Paris ceremony would provide a platform to recognise their achievements and strengthen collective action toward a more sustainable hospitality industry.
