Air Canada is significantly increasing its service between London Heathrow and Toronto ahead of the 2027 summer travel season, giving travelers more flexibility on one of the airline’s key transatlantic routes. Beginning June 1, 2027, the carrier will increase the frequency to as many as 33 weekly flights, taking the service to up to five flights per day in each direction. The expansion is expected to provide passengers with a wider choice of departure times while strengthening the connection between the United Kingdom and Canada for business, leisure and short-stay travel.
Daytripper Service Returns
A major highlight of the expanded schedule will be the return of Air Canada’s Daytripper service from Toronto to London Heathrow, offering a distinctive option for travelers who want to complete a short transatlantic trip without adding an overnight stay. The service is particularly suited to business travelers, short city breaks and passengers with limited time, allowing them to travel to London and return to Toronto the same day. Air Canada said the Daytripper has become a familiar option among its UK customers, and its return will provide an additional level of flexibility alongside the increased overall frequency on the route.
Stephen Gerrard, Air Canada’s representative in the United Kingdom, said the airline is pleased to bring back the Daytripper while increasing Heathrow-Toronto service to five times daily. He described the schedule as an alternative to conventional overnight transatlantic services, giving passengers greater freedom to choose travel times based on their individual needs. The expanded operation is expected to appeal to both business and leisure travelers, particularly those seeking to maximize their time at their destination rather than adding another night to their trip.
New Airbus A321XLR Joins Route
The increased service will also introduce Air Canada’s new Airbus A321XLR to the London Heathrow-Toronto route, bringing the airline’s latest aircraft and onboard experience to the important transatlantic market.
The aircraft will add a new dimension to the expanded schedule as Air Canada continues to develop its international fleet and improve connectivity between major destinations. For passengers, the combination of increased frequency and the introduction of a new-generation aircraft is expected to make the route a more attractive option for travelers comparing transatlantic schedules.

Faster Connections To The U.S.
For European travelers continuing to the United States through Canada, the expanded service also offers the advantage of U.S. Customs and immigration preclearance in Canada. Passengers can complete U.S. entry procedures before boarding their onward flight, allowing them to arrive in the United States as domestic passengers rather than going through the full customs and immigration process after landing. This can make connections through Toronto more convenient, particularly for travelers heading onward to destinations that are not directly served from London.
The London-Toronto expansion forms part of Air Canada’s broader Summer 2027 international network expansion, which includes five new international destinations, six new routes and increased frequencies on several key markets. The airline is also highlighting its Aeroplan loyalty program, allowing members to earn and redeem points across Air Canada’s network and a broad range of partner airlines. With higher flight frequencies, the return of the Daytripper and the arrival of the Airbus A321XLR, Air Canada is strengthening one of its most prominent links between Europe and North America while giving travelers more choices for both direct and connecting journeys.
