Minister Pandey to Focus Exclusively on Aviation Safety Reforms

Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has announced that he will dedicate the next week solely to improving aviation safety, setting aside all non-essential tasks. During this period, he aims to identify immediate, mid-term, and long-term measures to enhance aviation safety.

In light of two recent aviation accidents within 15 days, Minister Pandey has suspended all meetings and programs unrelated to aviation safety, according to his secretariat. The focus will be on mobilizing relevant authorities to address the critical issues in the aviation sector.

Additionally, the minister’s secretariat has requested suggestions from the public to improve safety in Nepal’s aviation sector. These suggestions can be sent to the ministry’s official email address.

Just this Wednesday, an Air Dynasty helicopter crashed in Shivapuri Rural Municipality-7, Nuwakot, resulting in the deaths of the pilot and four Chinese nationals.

Two weeks earlier, a Saurya Airlines plane crashed within the premises of Tribhuvan International Airport, claiming 18 lives, with the pilot being the sole survivor.

Minister Pandey’s secretariat also noted that effective rescue operations were lacking in both accidents. The concerned authorities are being consulted on this matter as well.
