The Madhesh province government has announced an annual budget of Rs 43.89 billion for the fiscal year 2081/82, with a strong emphasis on enhancing the tourism sector. Bharat Prasad Sah, the Minister for Finance of Madhesh province, presented the budget in the provincial assembly, highlighting the strategic allocation of funds to key areas including education, health, agriculture, and tourism.
Of the total budget, over Rs 16 billion (36.45 percent) is designated for recurrent expenses, while Rs 27.89 billion (63.55 percent) is set aside for capital expenses. This year’s budget is slightly lower, by 0.50 percent, compared to the current fiscal year’s budget.
Minister Sah emphasized the government’s commitment to leveraging the unique cultural and natural assets of Madhesh to attract more tourists. The focus on tourism is part of a broader strategy to stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and promote the province’s rich heritage.
Specific initiatives in the tourism sector include the development of infrastructure, such as improving transportation links and enhancing tourist facilities.
