Big order of aircraft from the ACG is set to strengthen the company’s Airbus fleet, as airlines prepare for the increase in passenger demand and move towards more fuel efficient aircraft. Airbus has secured a big order from Aviation Capital Group (ACG), one of the world’s largest aircraft leasing companies, as it continues to meet the demand for modern, fuel-efficient passenger jets, the company said today.
The deal for 75 A320neo jetliners would increase ACG’s Airbus fleet to 190 aircraft, providing airlines with more of the fuel-efficient aircraft needed to meet the increased demand for travel. ACG Chief Executive Officer Thomas Baker called the order the biggest ever in the company’s nearly 40-year history.

“Not only does the order show the confidence we have in the future of air transport, it also marks a major milestone for our business,” he said. The order comes after ACG purchased 50 Boeing 737 MAX jetliners earlier this year.
Aircraft Deal Has List Price Of Nearly $12 Billion
ACG’s Japanese parent company Tokyo Century said the 75 Airbus aircraft have a combined list price of nearly $12 billion, but aircraft manufacturers often provide discounts on such large purchases. The order represents a major addition to ACG’s aircraft portfolio, as the company supplies aircraft to airlines through a leasing program. This approach allows airlines to lease aircraft rather than buy them outright, and allows flexible use of the assets depending on capacity requirements, cost and service needs.

Fuel-Efficient Aircraft Help Airlines Operate Efficiently
Airbus’ A320neo aircraft offer increased fuel efficiency over the company’s previous A320 aircraft. The company estimates the A320neo will give airlines approximately 20% better fuel efficiency than the previous model, which is important in its efforts to improve performance while reducing overall fuel use and costs.
The A320neo is a single aisle passenger aircraft used on many short and medium haul routes around the world. Its efficiency and versatility make it a popular choice among airlines for domestic and international travel, where carriers must balance passenger demand, cost and operational efficiency.

Global Passengers Drive Aircraft Lease Demand
Tokyo Century said demand for aircraft operating leases is expected to continue growing, as airlines look to meet the increased demand for passengers while also replacing older aircraft with newer ones in their fleets. The outlook reflects the ongoing investment by airlines in the sector to improve efficiency.
While the announcement does not suggest any new services or routes, the increased aircraft capacity available to airlines can help meet the growing demand for travel as their needs change. For the tourism industry, fleet investment and aviation efficiency are important factors in the development of air connectivity and accessibility between destinations.
