The Airport Tourist Transport Service Management Limited has been providing transportation services to more than 1.3 million domestic and international tourists and air passengers annually, highlighting the important role of organised ground transportation in Nepal’s tourism industry. The company operates from Tribhuvan International Airport, offering daytime and nighttime transport services to visitors arriving in Nepal and connecting them with their initial destinations.
According to company chairperson Purushottam Simkhada, the service currently caters to more than 4,000 passengers daily through a fleet of 208 tourist vehicles. The company aims to make airport transfers convenient, reliable and safe for travellers, contributing to a smoother arrival experience for tourists visiting Nepal.

Airport Transport Service Supports Tourist Mobility
The company provides transportation services to both domestic and international visitors arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport. By connecting passengers with their initial destinations, the service plays an important role in facilitating tourist movement immediately after arrival in Nepal. Its daytime and nighttime operations also offer travellers transport options at different hours, helping make airport transfers more accessible.
Chairperson Simkhada said that organised tourist transportation contributes significantly to the development and promotion of Nepal’s tourism sector. He noted that convenient and reliable transport services from the airport help visitors enjoy a more comfortable and pleasant stay in the country. With tourist arrivals continuing to create demand for ground transportation, the company has been working to make its services more organised, secure and effective.

Company Operates 208 Tourist Vehicles
The company currently operates 208 tourist vehicles to serve passengers arriving at the international airport. With more than 4,000 passengers using its services daily, it has become an important provider of airport-based tourist transportation in Kathmandu.
Established in 2010, the company has also contributed to employment generation in the transport sector. It currently provides work opportunities to more than 450 self-employed drivers and employees, supporting livelihoods connected to Nepal’s tourism and transportation industries.

Illegal Passenger Services Pose Challenges to Operators
Despite the demand for organised tourist transportation, registered operators are facing challenges from privately registered vehicles that allegedly carry passengers for fares illegally. Chairperson Simkhada said that such practices have created additional difficulties for businesses operating within the formal tourist transport sector.
As tourist arrivals increase, maintaining safe, reliable and properly organised airport transportation remains important for Nepal’s tourism services. Strengthening the management of tourist transport and addressing unfair competition could help registered operators provide more effective services while improving the overall travel experience for visitors arriving in the country.
