The Gaijatra and Ropai Jatra Main Ceremony Committee, Boudha, has announced the celebration of Gaijatra and Ropai Jatra on Bhadra 5, to preserve and promote these traditional festivals.
During a press conference held today, the committee emphasized that Nepal is a garden of diverse ethnicities, languages, religions, and cultures. The event aims to keep the traditional Gaijatra and Ropai Jatra of Boudha alive, reflecting the cultural richness of this vibrant area.
Janamangal Lama, the coordinator of the committee, shared that the event will include various activities such as the Ghinting Naka program, the Ghonai program, and cultural performances featuring comedy and satire. The Ropai Jatra will also be a key highlight of the celebration.
The festival will showcase a variety of performances, including traditional Lakhe dance, Ropar (rice planters), Bause (plowmen), humorous skits, cultural displays, Khyal (folk songs), and special performances by children portraying roles like child Ropar, child Bause, child Lakhe, Hali (plowmen), and Ghada (potters).
This year’s Gaijatra and Ropai Jatra are set to be grand, organized, and culturally significant, continuing the rich traditions of Boudha.
