The Tindhare Waterfall, located in Roshi Rural Municipality-2, Kafaldanda, is rapidly becoming a major attraction with the addition of new tourism infrastructure. The recent developments include the construction of toilets, changing rooms, rest areas with railings for scenic viewing from the hilltop, and other facilities to enhance the visitor experience.
As the number of tourists visiting the waterfall has increased, these new amenities have been introduced to make their visit more comfortable. The Chairman of Roshi-1, Mr. Shreedas Lama, explained that the picturesque waterfall, coupled with the serene and green environment of the hilly terrain, has made Tindhare a favorite destination for both domestic and international tourists. Responding to the growing influx of visitors, the local government has been actively developing additional infrastructure, including motorable roads, footpaths, and facilities around the waterfall.
Chairman Lama highlighted that during the COVID-19 pandemic when people were confined to their homes, the Tindhare Waterfall gained recognition as a tourist spot. Since then, the number of visitors has steadily increased, prompting the local government to continue expanding and managing the necessary infrastructure.
“The ease of access with the motorable road, the availability of comfortable lodging and dining facilities, and the ongoing infrastructure developments have made this destination even more attractive,” Mr. Lama noted. “The waterfall’s beauty and the improved road conditions, along with the new facilities, have made the area increasingly appealing to tourists.”
Suwar Jimba, a resident of Mahabharat Rural Municipality-5, praised the waterfall for its natural beauty, noting that those who visit are often captivated and eager to return. He emphasized the importance of further management by the local government, suggesting that the area could be made even more appealing by adding sculptures and handicrafts around the waterfall.
In line with the increased tourist interest, the District Police Office, under the ‘Community Police Partnership’ initiative, has conducted a motivation enhancement program to support internal tourism promotion. This includes a cleanup operation around the waterfall, led by Inspector Krishna Giri of the Area Police Office in Mangaltar. The effort not only aimed to keep the area clean but also to motivate police personnel while sending a positive message to the community.
Roshi Rural Municipality’s Chairman, Dinesh Lama, announced that additional infrastructure projects are underway to further facilitate tourism at the waterfall. “We have constructed bathing rooms, changing rooms, toilets, and rest areas, which will be operational soon,” he stated. “Given that tourists enjoy bathing and swimming at the waterfall, we are also conducting a technical study to enhance the pond area for better management.”
Located approximately 30 kilometers from the district headquarters, the Tindhare Waterfall has become increasingly popular among internal tourists. Chairman Lama shared that visitors often express their delight at the unique experience the waterfall offers.
As the number of tourists continues to grow, residents in Kafaldanda have started offering homestay services, where visitors can enjoy locally produced agricultural products. The Tindhare Waterfall, which was listed by the Nepal Tourism Department in 1971, had previously remained in obscurity but is now emerging as a favored destination for both domestic and international tourists.
