A helicopter carrying Karnali Province Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel made an emergency landing in Radi, Aathbiskot Municipality, Rukum West, while en route from Dolpa to Surkhet. The helicopter, with the call sign 9N-AKD from Simrik Air, was forced to land in a local sports field due to deteriorating weather conditions, according to District Police Office Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police Navaraj Bhattarai.
Chief Minister Kandel, along with his wife, the Mayor of Tripura Sundari Municipality in Dolpa, a security guard, and the pilot, were onboard, making a total of five passengers. The helicopter was returning from a visit to Tripura Sundari Temple and a local fair when the weather suddenly worsened. The region has been experiencing continuous rainfall since early this morning.
