TAAN Extends Congratulations to New Nepal Tourism Board CEO Deepak Raj Joshi

The Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) has warmly congratulated Deepak Raj Joshi on his recent appointment as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). The congratulations were offered during a series of events held to welcome Mr. Joshi to his new role.

On September 9, 2024, TAAN’s Senior Vice President Karma Sherpa, Second Vice President Sanam Sherpa, General Secretary Sonam Gyaljen Sherpa, and CEO Ram Chandra Sedai extended their congratulations to Mr. Joshi during the “New CEO Introductory Function” organized by NTB at its hall. At this event, Mr. Sonam Gyaljen Sherpa, representing TAAN and other national associations related to mountain and adventure tourism, including the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), Nepal Adventure and Resource Association (NARA), Canyoning Association, and Adventure Sports Association, presented Mr. Joshi with formal felicitations and best wishes.

The following day, September 10, 2024, TAAN President Sagar Pandey personally visited Mr. Joshi in his office to offer further congratulations. Accompanied by Senior Vice President Karma Sherpa, First Vice President Bishnu Prasad Lamsal, Second Vice President Sanam Sherpa, General Secretary Sonam Gyaljen Sherpa, and CEO Ram Chandra Sedai, President Pandey wished Mr. Joshi a successful tenure.

During this visit, TAAN representatives discussed key issues affecting Nepal’s tourism industry, particularly mountain tourism. Topics included the safety, reliability, and carrying capacity of air transport carriers, the increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters in mountainous regions, and the need for a reliable rescue mechanism. Additional discussions covered concerns related to the Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) and local government taxes.

This series of meetings underscores the collaborative efforts between TAAN and the Nepal Tourism Board to address pressing issues in Nepal’s tourism sector and support the new CEO in advancing the country’s tourism agenda.
