Roshi Gaupalika’s Teen Dhare Waterfall Emerging as a Major Tourist Attraction

The picturesque Teen Dhare Waterfall, located in the Roshi Gaupalika-2, Kafaldanda, has recently become a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists. The waterfall’s appeal has grown significantly following the construction of various tourist-friendly infrastructures, including restrooms, changing rooms, and observation points, providing stunning views of the waterfall from the surrounding hills.

As visitors ascend from the banks of the Roshi River, they are greeted by the enchanting sight of the Mahabharat Range, often shrouded in mist. The majestic Teen Dhare Waterfall, cascading down from the mountains, offers a mesmerizing view that captivates all who visit. The ever-changing weather and the playful dance of clouds only add to the magical experience.

Nabin Kirati, a tourist from Dharan, expressed his delight, saying, “It’s a joy to witness the waterfall up close. I learned about this place through social media, and it has been a refreshing escape from the fatigue of the journey.” The sound of wind rustling through the pines and the chirping of birds further enhance the experience, making the visit truly memorable.

The natural beauty of the waterfall is further accentuated by the surrounding green hills, giving it the appearance of a bride adorned in her wedding finery. With the addition of physical infrastructures, the site has been transformed into a more appealing tourist destination.

Pramesh Thapa from Kathmandu shared his experience, saying, “As you ascend, the changing weather and the unveiling of the waterfall’s vibrant hues are captivating. The cool waters of the waterfall provide a therapeutic experience that washes away all worries and stress.” He emphasized the need to promote the waterfall as a significant tourist destination, recognizing its potential to alleviate the burdens of life through its natural beauty.

Known as the “Baahubali Waterfall” on social media due to its resemblance to the waterfall featured in the South Indian film “Baahubali,” Teen Dhare has gained considerable attention online. The site is accessible by road up to Kafaldanda, followed by a half-hour trek to reach the waterfall.

In recent years, the local government has made significant efforts to improve accessibility and infrastructure at the Teen Dhare, including the construction of stairways, rest areas, and waste management systems. The Roshi Gaupalika has also introduced homestay facilities, offering local delicacies such as buckwheat dhido, green corn, and gundruk pickle, further enriching the visitor experience.

The Teen Dhare Waterfall, located at an altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level, attracts 500 to 600 visitors daily during the peak season, with numbers increasing significantly on weekends and public holidays. The area offers a stunning view of the sunrise and sunset, and in winter, visitors can even catch a glimpse of Mount Everest from the site.

Despite its proximity to Kathmandu, the site has remained relatively undiscovered until recently. However, with the growing popularity on social media and the efforts of the local government, the Teen Dhare is quickly becoming a must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.

The local government has allocated NPR 5 million in the current fiscal year to further enhance the site, including the construction of a welcome gate, railings, and stone-paved paths. Plans are also in place to extend the trekking route from the waterfall to Tarakhase Lake, providing tourists with even more options for exploration.

As tourist numbers continue to rise, the Roshi Gaupalika is committed to ensuring the sustainable development of Teen Dhare, preserving its natural beauty while promoting it as a key tourist destination. The local community, now more engaged than ever, is looking forward to welcoming visitors with traditional hospitality, making Teen Dhare Waterfall a gem in Nepal’s tourism landscape.
