Aina Pahara in Aanbukhaireni Gains Popularity as Emerging Tourist Destination

Aina Pahara, located in Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality-2 along the Prithvi Highway, has recently become a popular destination for domestic tourists. This picturesque site in Tanahun is drawing visitors due to its natural beauty and newly developed attractions.

Similarly, Manungkot in Vyas-5 has also gained significant popularity in recent years. Tourists flock to Manungkot to witness the breathtaking views of fog and sunrise, particularly during the winter season. The influx of visitors seeking to capture the scenic beauty has boosted the area’s tourism potential.

Bandipur, a well-established tourist destination, continues to attract both domestic and international travelers. Its unique blend of natural beauty, historical sites, and traditional Newari culture makes it a preferred destination for visitors. Various other tourist destinations in Tanahun have also contributed to the promotion of local tourism, although some remain relatively unknown.

In Aanbukhaireni, the local government has been working to develop Aina Pahara as a major tourist destination. One of the key attractions is a stone carving of Lord Ganesh, made from the natural rock near the waterfall. This artistic endeavor has captivated the attention of visitors.

Shukra Chuman, the chairperson of Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality, stated that efforts are being made to elevate Aina Pahara as a prime tourist destination in the Gandaki Province. “The artistic enhancement of the natural rock formations is part of a larger plan to attract more tourists,” Chuman explained. In addition to the Ganesh carving, images of a mother and child, as well as a fairy, have been etched into the nearby rocks.

To further promote tourism, a park is being constructed at Aina Pahara. Last year, a budget of NPR 14 million was allocated for the development of the park. Future plans include the introduction of sky cycling and the construction of a glass bridge. Basic amenities like public restrooms have already been completed, making the area more accessible and appealing to visitors, especially those looking to enjoy the waterfall, shoot videos, or create TikTok content during the warmer months.

Manungkot, famous for its misty landscapes and stunning sunrise views, has also seen an increase in tourist activity as the cold season approaches. Local resident Anil Adhikari noted that the scenic view of Damouli Bazaar, covered in fog, draws many visitors to Manungkot. The spot also offers a panoramic view of the Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, Manaslu, and Lamjung Himal ranges.

In Bandipur, attractions such as the Tundikhel, Thanimai Temple, Raniwan, Ramkot, Sunkhari, Khaddevi Temple, and the Mahalakshmi Temple continue to draw tourists. Bandipur is also known for its traditional Newari architecture, with beautifully carved wooden windows and doors, which add to its charm. The town is particularly famous for its well-preserved houses built in the Bhaktapur-style, dating back to the 18th century when Newars migrated from Bhaktapur and Banepa.

Bandipur Tourism Development Committee President Kisan Pradhan highlighted that the town’s unique climate, culture, and traditions make it an ideal destination for tourists. The local government has prohibited the construction of modern, Western-style buildings within the town center to preserve its historical appeal. Instead, efforts have been made to maintain the original architectural style, which has significantly boosted tourism in the area.

Bandipur Rural Municipality has also designated a protected zone within a 500-meter radius of the Ring Road, ensuring that any new constructions comply with the 2072 building regulations and the municipality’s guidelines. Additionally, Tanahun offers other key tourist attractions, including the historic Tanahunsur, Vyas Cave, Galekhankot, and Chhabdi Barahi Temple in Vyas Municipality, as well as Dhor Barahi Temple and Tree House in Myagde.

With these concerted efforts and developments, Tanahun’s diverse tourist destinations are playing an integral role in promoting the region as a must-visit location for both domestic and international travelers.
