A new tourist information center has been established in Tuse, Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality-1, within the Annapurna Conservation Area. This initiative, led by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) in collaboration with the local rural municipality, aims to enhance the experience of trekkers and promote tourism in the region.
The center, along with a park and day service facility, was built under a partnership program between ACAP and the rural municipality. ACAP contributed NPR 1 million from its Lwang office, while the rural municipality provided NPR 1.36 million, bringing the total project cost to NPR 2.36 million.
According to Lekhnath Gautam, head of the ACAP Lwang office, the center will serve as a hub for registering trekkers heading to key trekking routes such as the Mardi Himal and Machhapuchhre Model trails. It will also play a crucial role in assisting trekkers in case of emergencies, and ensuring prompt rescue operations. The center also serves as the starting point for treks to Khumai Danda and Krochong.
Min Bahadur Gurung, chairperson of the rural municipality, highlighted that the center will provide detailed information on the geographical conditions of the Khumai and Mardi trekking routes, points of interest along the journey, travel times, accommodation options, and guidelines for a safe and comfortable trekking experience.
The facility is spread across five ropanis of land and includes a tourist information center, a day service center, and a gymnasium. This development is expected to significantly boost tourism in the area, offering better services and safety for trekkers exploring the Annapurna region.
