In a recent move by the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC), the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) and Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP) have implemented new rules for trekkers. Both domestic and international visitors are now strictly prohibited from carrying loudspeakers or other sound systems that may disturb the serenity of the trekking environment.
This regulation is a significant step toward protecting the delicate ecosystem and the peace of local communities in these conservation areas. Excessive noise not only disrupts the experience for other trekkers but also poses a serious threat to local wildlife, affecting the well-being of both flora and fauna. The Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) Gandaki chapter has welcomed this initiative and has urged all trekking guides and support staff to adhere to these guidelines. The association emphasizes the importance of maintaining a peaceful trekking environment that respects both nature and local culture.
In addition, TAAN Gandaki has announced that the online permit system for ACAP and MCAP is now fully operational. Trekking permits for foreign visitors can now be issued online, simplifying the process for trekking agencies and individual trekkers alike. TAAN Gandaki encourages all members to utilize this online system to ensure smooth permit issuance and compliance with the new regulations.
TAAN Gandaki remains committed to promoting sustainable tourism and preserving the beauty of Nepal’s natural heritage for future generations.
