The Kirat community has constructed a sacred temple, known as “Manghim,” in the Phaktanglung Rural Municipality-6 area of Taplejung, near the Kumbhakarna (Phaktanglung) Himal and its base camp. This newly built Manghim serves as a place of worship and reverence for the local Kirat people, who hold the Kumbhakarna Himal as a holy pilgrimage site.
For the Kirat community, Kumbhakarna Himal is not just a majestic mountain but a spiritually significant location with deep cultural roots. This mountain, named after the mythological figure Kumbhakarna, holds immense importance, symbolizing both natural beauty and divine presence in Kirat traditions.
The establishment of the Manghim temple at this sacred location represents the community’s devotion and efforts to preserve their cultural heritage while honoring the spiritual essence of Kumbhakarna Himal.
