Missing Slovak Tourist Found Dead in Langtang’s Lirung Region

In a tragic end to a two-week search, Slovak tourist Andrej Husurka, age 34, was found dead in the Lirung area of Langtang. According to Keshav Bhattarai, Chief of the District Police Office, Husurka, carrying passport number BC 8915028, had gone missing while trekking in the Himalayas. His body was discovered during the third round of aerial search operations.

The search team, led by Senior Captain Vivek Khadka, found Husurka’s body in a 30-meter-deep ravine at an altitude of approximately 1,700 meters. His remains have been transferred to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu for post-mortem examination.

Husurka had been trekking with Marek Holecek, a tourist from the Czech Republic holding passport number 4615633091, who was located last week. The two tourists had arranged their trip through Kathmandu Trekking Company in Thamel. Police are investigating whether the trekking agency met all necessary safety protocols and minimum standards before sending the tourists on the Himalayan trek.

The unfortunate incident highlights the risks involved in Himalayan trekking and underscores the importance of adhering to safety guidelines for both trekkers and trekking agencies.
