Nepal Showcases Tourism at World Travel Market 2024 in London

Nepal captivated the global tourism industry by participating in the prestigious World Travel Market (WTM) 2024, held in London from November 4 to 6. Led by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Nepal’s delegation highlighted the nation as a premier destination for adventure, cultural diversity, and sustainable tourism, aiming to draw the world’s attention to its unique offerings.

Celebrating its 40th year of participation at WTM, the NTB underscored Nepal’s longstanding contributions to global tourism. This year’s event saw participation from 184 countries, with 43,000 attendees and 3,875 exhibitors. Notably, 82 conference sessions were held during the market, providing a robust platform for networking and discussions.

NTB’s Chief Executive Officer, Deepak Raj Joshi, emphasized that Nepal’s inclusion in the “Best in Travel” list by Lonely Planet for 2024 added further significance to its presence at WTM. This recognition has bolstered Nepal’s credibility in the tourism industry and allowed NTB to showcase Nepal’s cultural heritage to a global audience.

“Our presence at WTM enables Nepal to engage directly with high-potential markets, positioning us among top international destinations,” Joshi stated. “This platform allows us to create new business opportunities, share Nepal’s rich culture, unparalleled natural beauty, and eco-friendly tourism offerings, and connect with environmentally conscious travelers.”

Joshi also highlighted that Lonely Planet’s recognition enhances Nepal’s tourism services and further solidifies Nepal’s status as a must-visit destination. This year’s promotion covers the full spectrum of Nepal’s attractions—from famous Himalayan peaks to ancient cultural sites.

Nepal’s presence at WTM featured a variety of stakeholders, including representatives from travel companies, hotels, and resorts, all committed to strengthening Nepal’s reputation as a destination for adventure, spirituality, and heritage. The NTB expects that WTM 2024 will play a pivotal role in attracting more global tourists, helping Nepal become an even stronger destination for travelers worldwide.
