Annapurna Square Hotel Construction Begins with ITC Hotels’ Commitment to Sustainability and Innovation

In a major step towards transforming Nepal’s luxury hospitality landscape, Annapurna Square Pvt Ltd has successfully partnered with ITC Hotels, one of India’s leading luxury hotel chains, to bring a state-of-the-art hotel to the heart of Kathmandu. The official groundbreaking ceremony of the new Annapurna Square Hotel was conducted earlier this week by Min Bahadur Gurung, Chairman of Annapurna Square Pvt Ltd, marking the beginning of an ambitious construction project aimed at enhancing Nepal’s tourism and hospitality sector.

The hotel’s construction is estimated to cost around NPR 65 billion, and the facility is expected to be operational by the year 2085. The hotel is poised to become one of Nepal’s most prestigious destinations, combining luxury, sustainability, and cultural richness in a single space.

Annapurna Square Pvt Ltd has roped in ITC Hotels to manage the property, marking ITC’s second international venture in Nepal after its success with the Fortune Resort & Wellness Spa in Bhaktapur. Known for its high standards in hospitality, ITC Hotels brings with it decades of expertise in luxury hospitality, as well as a commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices.

According to Anil Chadha, Chief Executive Officer of ITC Hotels, the new hotel will reflect its core philosophy of “responsible luxury” by incorporating energy-efficient technologies and utilizing locally sourced materials. “We are delighted to partner with Annapurna Square to manage this iconic property. Our focus on sustainability and cultural preservation will shape the hotel’s design and operations, ensuring that it aligns with the local ethos of Kathmandu while offering world-class amenities,” he said.

The hotel will be designed by Morphogenesis, a renowned architectural firm known for blending innovative, sustainable designs with local cultural influences. The firm’s involvement ensures that the new hotel will reflect Kathmandu’s unique cultural heritage while incorporating modern architectural excellence.

Chairman Min Bahadur Gurung expressed his excitement over the groundbreaking, stating, “This is a proud moment for Annapurna Square Pvt Ltd. The hotel will not only serve as a premier hospitality destination but also contribute to Nepal’s economic growth by promoting tourism and offering an eco-friendly lodging option that respects our environment.”

The hotel’s development comes as part of a broader vision to boost Nepal’s tourism sector, particularly in the luxury and eco-conscious markets. As Nepal continues to attract international travelers, the partnership between Annapurna Square Pvt Ltd and ITC Hotels signifies a major milestone in shaping the country’s hospitality future.

The hotel will offer a range of luxury services and amenities, including high-end rooms, wellness centers, and business facilities, catering to both leisure and corporate travelers. Additionally, the focus on sustainability will ensure the hotel remains environmentally conscious, supporting both the local community and the planet.

As construction progresses, the Annapurna Square Hotel is expected to become a landmark in the Kathmandu Valley, a blend of modern luxury and Nepal’s rich cultural legacy. The project stands as a testament to the growing potential of Nepal’s hospitality sector, which is set to benefit from both local and international collaboration, further establishing the country as a hub for responsible, high-quality tourism. This collaboration between Annapurna Square Pvt Ltd and ITC Hotels is poised to redefine Nepal’s luxury hospitality scene, making it a sought-after destination for travelers around the world.
