Arun Danda, also known as Chhintalung, in Paudayungma Rural Municipality of Bhojpur district, is gradually gaining recognition as an emerging tourism destination, attracting increasing numbers of domestic visitors with its natural beauty, religious significance and improved infrastructure.
Situated at an elevation of around 2,300 metres above sea level, Arun Danda offers panoramic views of surrounding mountain ranges, green landscapes, flatlands and other scenic areas of eastern Nepal. The destination has also become a place of religious interest, with visitors arriving to worship at the site.

Infrastructure Boosting Tourism
The local government, in partnership with the Koshi Province Government, has developed several tourism-related facilities at Arun Danda. Statues of Buddha, Lord Shiva and Yalambar, along with resting areas and other basic infrastructure, have been constructed to make the destination more attractive and visitor-friendly. According to local representatives, plantation and conservation activities have further enhanced the natural surroundings. The site’s proximity to the Bhojpur–Leguwa road section has also made access easier for domestic travelers.

Nature, Religion and Local Experiences
Arun Danda has increasingly become an escape for people looking to enjoy nature away from the busy urban lifestyle. Visitors can combine sightseeing and relaxation with religious activities while experiencing the local environment and cuisine. Local residents say the growing number of visitors has begun creating opportunities for income generation among communities around the destination.

The rural municipality has placed the conservation and development of Arun Danda among its tourism priorities. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared to guide infrastructure development, with the local government aiming to connect the destination more closely with tourism and establish it as a sustainable source of local income.
Plans to Promote the Destination
The municipality is preparing to increase promotion of Arun Danda to attract both domestic and international visitors. With its combination of natural scenery, religious importance and road connectivity, local stakeholders believe the destination has strong potential to become one of Bhojpur’s notable tourism attractions. Further investment in visitor facilities, conservation, promotion and local tourism services could help Arun Danda develop into a sustainable destination while providing additional economic opportunities for surrounding communities.
