The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has announced the operation of Automated External Defibrillator (AED) medical equipment at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to enhance health and safety for passengers and airport users. The equipment has been installed at both the arrival and departure terminals to provide immediate first aid in emergencies.
Importance of Passenger Safety by CAAN
Passengers and airport users may occasionally face serious health issues, including sudden unconsciousness, breathing difficulties, or cardiac emergencies. In such cases, timely medical attention is critical, as delays can endanger lives. The AED equipment is designed to deliver prompt assistance to individuals experiencing cardiac or respiratory emergencies, enabling effective primary treatment on the spot.
Staff Training and Preparedness
In the first phase, airport staff and medical personnel from the Health Desk, KMC Hospital, and HAMS Hospital have been trained in the operation and proper use of AED devices. This training ensures that emergencies are handled efficiently, significantly enhancing emergency response management at TIA.
