Chaudhary Group has announced a major investment in Nepal’s hospitality sector by introducing the prestigious Ritz-Carlton, the flagship luxury brand of Marriott International. This project represents one of the largest investments ever in Nepal’s tourism and luxury hotel industry, with an estimated cost of US$100 million.
Landmark Partnership and Foundation Stone Ceremony
The foundation stone for The Ritz‑Carlton Kathmandu was laid on Friday in Thamel, the central tourist hub of Kathmandu, on a nine‑ropani parcel of land near Darbar Marg. The project is being developed by CG Hospitality Global, in partnership with local investors including Rabindra Bhakta Shrestha of IJ Group, Saurav Sharma of Sharma & Company, and entrepreneurs Amrit Shakya and Sanchit Shrestha. Construction has already commenced.

Ultra-Luxury Hotel with World-Class Facilities
Once completed, the Ritz‑Carlton Kathmandu will feature an ultra‑luxury hotel with 150 rooms, branded residential units, a business complex, and a casino. Room rates are projected to exceed $1,000 per night, positioning the property among the highest-priced accommodations in the region. The project aims to elevate Nepal as a premium tourism destination in South Asia.
Boosting Nepal’s Tourism and Economic Growth
Rahul Chaudhary, Managing Director and CEO of CG Hospitality Global, said: “The launch of The Ritz‑Carlton in Kathmandu underscores Chaudhary Group’s commitment to elevating Nepal’s tourism sector to a world-class standard. It reflects our confidence in the new government under Prime Minister Balen Shah and our ambition to contribute to job creation, high-quality tourism, and broader economic growth.”

The project is expected to create numerous employment opportunities, attract further investment, and strengthen Nepal’s position in the international luxury tourism market.
Global Prestige of The Ritz‑Carlton Brand
Established in 1983, The Ritz‑Carlton currently operates over 108 hotels and resorts in 30 countries. Its entry into Nepal aligns with Marriott International’s global expansion strategy and signals Nepal’s growing attractiveness for luxury hospitality investments.

CG Hospitality Global’s Expanding Portfolio
CG Hospitality Global currently manages more than 230 hotels and resorts across 130 destinations in 12 countries, with over 15,000 rooms. The Kathmandu project is slated for completion by mid‑2029, including the main hotel tower, ancillary facilities, and landscaped surroundings designed to meet The Ritz‑Carlton’s exacting standards.
