Corinthia Hotels has officially announced plans to open its first property in China, Corinthia Chengdu, in partnership with ShiLong Industry Co and The Geminus Group. The highly anticipated 2032 project is expected to redefine luxury hospitality in Chengdu by blending Mediterranean elegance with the relaxed, cultural atmosphere of Sichuan Province.
Prime Location in Chengdu’s High-Tech District
The new hotel will anchor a 225-metre mixed-use tower in the Gaoxin District, a rapidly developing high-tech hub. Located at the intersection of Tianfu Avenue and Tianfu First Street, adjacent to the 93.3-hectare Gui Xi urban park, the property is strategically positioned to serve both international business travelers and experience-seeking leisure visitors.

Industry analysts note that the mixed-use development, with a total investment of approximately RMB 4 billion, will combine luxury retail, residential, and commercial components. Such integrated projects typically encourage longer guest stays, higher spending, and create a self-contained urban environment where visitors can sleep, dine, shop, and work without leaving the neighborhood.
Rooms, Residences, and Mediterranean Influence
Corinthia Chengdu will feature around 150 rooms and suites, along with 60 branded residences designed to provide panoramic city and park views. The residences are expected to attract long-stay executives and globally mobile families, adding a residential dimension to Chengdu’s luxury market.
The property will embody Corinthia’s grand boutique ethos, combining the scale of a major urban hotel with the intimate interiors, personalized service, and refined design that define the brand in cities such as London, Lisbon, and Malta. The hotel’s Mediterranean spirit is expected to be reflected in convivial public spaces, refined dining experiences, and attentive, characterful service tailored to guests’ needs.
Enhancing Chengdu’s Global Hospitality Profile
The arrival of Corinthia is viewed as a strategic statement about Chengdu’s position on the global luxury tourism map. Travel industry experts believe the hotel will boost the city’s appeal for high-yield meetings, incentives, conferences, and events (MICE), particularly given its location within a major high-tech corridor.
By combining contemporary luxury with sustainable practices, Corinthia Chengdu aligns with international trends where affluent travelers increasingly seek responsible, indulgent, and culturally immersive experiences. Guests can expect to enjoy the city’s tea-house culture, panda sanctuaries, and relaxed lifestyle, providing an authentic complement to European luxury service standards.

Corinthia’s Long-Term Commitment to China
Corinthia Hotels’ leadership describes the Chengdu project as a milestone in its global expansion, signaling a long-term strategy for China rather than a single-city venture. The group is actively exploring additional opportunities across the country, aiming to establish itself as a leading player in the Chinese luxury hospitality market.
A Destination for Locals and Travelers Alike
Beyond catering to international visitors, Corinthia Chengdu is expected to serve as a communal hub for residents, hosting special events and celebrations, while also providing business travelers with a home-like atmosphere. By offering premium hospitality experiences in one of China’s most dynamic cities, the hotel reinforces Chengdu’s growing reputation as a global destination for culture, innovation, and luxury leisure.
