International mountain guide Dawa Yangzum Sherpa has reached the base camp of Mount Shishapangma in China, preparing for her final ascent. Upon successfully climbing Shishapangma, she will become the first woman to summit all 14 of the world’s peaks higher than 8,000 meters. Sherpa has already completed 13 of these climbs, with only Shishapangma remaining to achieve this historic milestone.
Mingma Sherpa, director of Climbalaya Treks and Expeditions, shared that Dawa Yangzum Sherpa has already reached the base camp and is preparing for her ascent of Shishapangma, the world’s 14th highest mountain. She is making this climb with the support of Climbalaya Treks and Expeditions.
Dawa Yangzum Sherpa holds several prestigious titles, including being the first woman in Asia to receive an international mountain guide license. She is also the youngest brand ambassador for Rolex and an athlete for ‘The North Face.’ Along with Pasang Lhamu Sherpa Akita and Maya Sherpa, she was one of the first Nepali women to summit K2, the second-highest mountain in the world, located in Pakistan.
Born in Dolakha’s Rolwaling Valley at an altitude of 4,200 meters, Sherpa is not only a courageous mountaineer but also a proud representative of Nepal and its people on the global stage. Her remarkable achievements have brought international recognition to Nepal.
